A small honeyeater of the Maluku (Moluccan) Islands, it frequents flowering trees and shrubs and likely plays a role in pollination. It adapts fairly well to secondary growth and disturbed edges compared with some forest specialists. As with many myzomelas, it is active and can be quite territorial around rich nectar sources.
