This privacy policy applies to the FeatherScan mobile application (the "Application"). The app is designed as a privacy-first bird identification tool, operating offline with no account creation or cloud storage.
FeatherScan is a privacy-respecting bird identifier that works fully offline. No signup is required, and no personal data is collected or transmitted.
All your scan history, images, and preferences are stored only on your device. We do not sync or store this data remotely.
The application may access the following only while actively using the relevant features:
This data never leaves your device.
Your images and scan data are processed only on your device to provide species suggestions. No analytics, tracking, or profiling occurs.
FeatherScan includes an optional cloud-based AI feature to help identify bird species from photos. This is used only when you manually trigger an online scan.
Images are transmitted securely over HTTPS and processed in real time. They are never stored or reused.
All optional online image requests are encrypted using HTTPS. No images or personal information are saved on external servers. Each request is deleted immediately after processing.
FeatherScan offers premium features via in-app purchases and auto-renewable subscriptions through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

If you make in-app purchases, we may share limited, non-personal consumption data with Apple or Google through our payment partner RevenueCat to assist in verifying and processing refund requests.
This may include non-identifying information such as the product you purchased, the date of purchase, whether the content was accessed, and general usage signals needed for refund decisions.
By making in-app purchases, you consent to this limited data sharing solely for the purpose of refund evaluation, in compliance with Apple and Google’s privacy and refund policies.
