Papuan Islands (Biak–Supiori), Indonesia
Typical Environment
This species is restricted to lowland and hill forests on Biak and Supiori, including primary and selectively logged rainforest. It frequents forest edges, secondary growth, and village gardens rich in flowering trees. Coconut groves, coastal scrub, and mixed agroforestry areas are also used when nectar and fruit are abundant. It typically forages in the canopy but will descend to mid-storey trees in bloom.

The Biak lorikeet, also called Rosenberg's lorikeet, is part of the rainbow lorikeet complex and has a specialized brush-tipped tongue for feeding on nectar and pollen. It is confined to Biak and Supiori islands off northwestern New Guinea. Logging, habitat fragmentation, and capture for the cage-bird trade are the main pressures on this species.
