The Uganda woodland warbler is a species of Old World warbler in the family Phylloscopidae. It is found in Cameroon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Kenya, and Uganda.

Typical Environment

Occurs patchily across the Guineo-Congolian and Albertine Rift forests from Cameroon and Gabon east to Uganda and western Kenya, including both Congos and Equatorial Guinea. It favors primary and mature secondary evergreen forest, forest edges, and well-wooded gullies. Birds typically keep to the mid to upper canopy but also descend to lower strata in broken forest. It tolerates some habitat disturbance if substantial tree cover remains.

A discreet leaf-warbler of African forests, the Uganda woodland warbler forages actively among foliage, often joining mixed-species flocks. It was named for Uganda’s Budongo Forest, reflecting its strong association with moist evergreen woodland. Its high, thin trills can be hard to locate, but it is often detected by voice before being seen.
