Distribution

Region

Sulawesi (South Sulawesi), Indonesia

Typical Environment

Occurs on and around Mount Lompobattang in montane and submontane evergreen forests. It frequents mossy forest, forest edges, and ridgelines where dense foliage offers abundant foraging sites. Birds forage from the understory to mid-canopy, often moving rapidly among tangles and leaf clusters. It tolerates lightly disturbed habitats but is tied to forested environments and does not typically use open areas. Range is very localized compared with the wider-ranging Sulawesi leaf warbler.

Useful to know

A small, active Phylloscopus warbler restricted to the highlands around Mount Lompobattang in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It was long treated as part of the Sulawesi leaf warbler complex (then under P. sarasinorum) but has been split based on vocal, genetic, and subtle morphological differences. It often joins mixed-species flocks and can be surprisingly elusive despite its frequent, high-pitched calls.
