The Vogelkop melidectes is a species of bird in the family Meliphagidae. It is endemic to West Papua, Indonesia : northern Doberai and western Bomberai peninsula.

Typical Environment
Occurs in montane and submontane forests of the Vogelkop (Bird’s Head) and adjacent Bomberai Peninsulas. It uses primary mossy forest, forest edges, and disturbed secondary growth with ample flowering plants. Often forages along ridgelines and in midstory to canopy layers. Tolerates selective logging and forest edges as long as nectar sources persist.
