Typical Environment
Endemic to Taiwan, it inhabits forested foothills and montane valleys, especially near clear, fast-flowing streams, waterfalls, and shaded ravines. It favors rocky streambeds with dense understory and overhanging vegetation. Birds may venture to forest edges, tea plantations, and rural valleys where intact riparian cover persists. During the non-breeding season it can occur slightly lower in elevation but remains tied to water-rich habitats.
